Privacy Policy

How Aloha Search handles information when you search, browse, claim a listing, or submit a website. The short version: we collect as little as we can and we don't sell your data.

Last updated May 12, 2026 Applies islands-wide
We never sell your personal information. We use it only to run Aloha Search, keep listings accurate, and respond to you.

1. Information we collect

We aim to collect only what we need to run a useful local directory:

  • Things you give us — searches you run, a listing you claim, a website you submit, reviews and photos you post, and contact details like an email address.
  • Things collected automatically — basic device and browser information, approximate region, and how you interact with pages, used to keep the Service working and improve results.
  • Local preferences — settings like your light/dark theme and saved listings, stored in your browser.

2. How we use information

We use information to return relevant search results, keep listings accurate, respond to submissions and messages, prevent abuse, and understand which features are useful so we can improve them.

3. Cookies & local storage

Aloha Search uses your browser's local storage to remember preferences such as your theme and saved listings. We use minimal, privacy-respecting analytics to understand overall usage. You can clear this data anytime through your browser settings.

4. When we share information

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us operate Aloha Search (for example, hosting), when required by law, or to protect the safety of people and the Service.

5. Your choices

You can browse without an account, clear saved data from your browser, and ask us to access or delete personal information we hold about you by contacting our team. Business owners can edit or request removal of a claimed listing.

6. Data retention

We keep information only as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. When it's no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

7. Contact us

For privacy questions or requests, email privacy@aloh.as. We'll do our best to respond promptly, island time.
